Our time in the Swiss Alps was the kind of trip that lingers—quiet mornings, wide open views and just enough chaos to keep everything interesting. We soaked up every stretch of sky, chased down lattes in the village and leaned into the joy of being together somewhere that felt so far from everything else.

We stayed at Hotel Spinne in Grindelwald, an ideal centralized spot, and hopped from Lauterbrunnen to Interlaken and beyond. We stood at the ‘Top of Europe’ and ate what might’ve been the best smash burger on the continent at Basecamp Restaurant. There were waterfall hikes, spontaneous pizza nights and a latte in just about every village we passed through, though none quite like the kind my husband makes me at home.
And then of course there were the cows. Real-deal Swiss cows with bells and grassy pastures that looked like something out of a postcard.
It’s interesting how the smallest moments stay with you—waiting on platforms, taking in mountain views from our hotel room, sharing coffee in places we may never see again. Traveling with family is always a story. And just like that… I wonder where we’ll go next?
Where I Stayed: Hotel Spinne

Hotel Spinne was tucked right beneath the Swiss Alps with views that imitated artwork. Our room faced the mountains, and the spa and infinity pool were chef’s kiss. We made the most of the complimentary breakfast each morning, never quite got used to the three-pronged wall outlets but fully embraced the cool breeze that rolled in through our open window each night
Food & Beverage:

Since we stayed in Grindelwald, most of our food moments came from there, though we did stumble on a few great finds along the way. That said, food wasn’t really the focus of this trip, it was all about the scenery. We ordered fish and chips during our boat rides across Lake Brienz and Lake Thun (I think it was perch) and gave the infamous Swiss cheese fondue a try. But it was the chocolate fondue that took first place for me.
- Babel Lebanese Kitchen – Located inside the Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle, this spot totally surprised us in the best way. Everything was incredible, including the hotel itself.
- Onkel Tom’s Hütte – Such a charming little find. Cozy, quaint and serving up some seriously good pizza.
- BaseCamp Restaurant – Home of the burger that still has us talking. Simple, flavorful and exactly what we needed after a time of exploring.
- Eiger Bean Coffee Roastery – The best lattes I had the entire trip. Definitely better than the self-serve machines we found in most places.
Switzerland Highlights

From riding mountain carts to paragliding over the Lauterbrunnen Valley, these were the kinds of experiences you carry with you for a lifetime. Traveling with family and getting to write these memories down together feels like a gift. It’s always exciting to see new places, and truthfully, I already miss the public transportation system. The good news is my husband’s dying to go snowboarding in the Alps, so it looks like… until we meet again.
